Sprigging
Sprigging is usually common with warm-season grasses such
as Centipede, St. Augustine, Hybrid Bermuda, and Zoysia. The
sprig is the grass stem and roots of the grass. Sprigs are
normally produced by simply tearing apart the sod or
purchasing already cut sprigs. The sprigs should be kept in
direct sunlight. Sprigging may have advantages and
disadvantages. Some advantages are that sprigging can be
less expensive then sodding and it can help to create a deep
and solid root system. Disadvantages may include time
consumption, high maintenance, and the results take longer
than sodding itself.
